UdaipurTimes, Sept 11, 2026 -  Vipin Kothari, an accused in the land plot scam involving the Udaipur Nagar Nigam, has been arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) and placed in police custody remand until September 15.

According to Rajasthan SOG Additional Director General Vishal Bansal, the accused has been held in the case involving forget documents for vacant and cancelled plots that had been transferred to the Nagar Nigam by the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) in 2004. Allegedly, the forged documents were then used to obtain lease deeds from the Nigam.

A case, FIR No. 97/2022, was registered at the Surajpol Police Station and investigation was conducted under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

As per reports, Kothari had allegedly prepared forged documents for several plots reportedly in connivance with co-accused Vikram Kumar Takdiya, Nitesh Kothari, Hemlata Kankaria, Rakesh Solanki alias Bukka, Nirmal Tailor alias Gopal, Bhagirath Gayari, Deepak Kumawat, Deepak Singh Chauhan and Rajdeep Singh. He is then alleged to have colluded with Nigam officials and employees to obtain lease deeds for the plots using the forged documents. The suspects are accused of subsequently preparing Power of Attorney in their own names and selling the plots to other parties.

Nine people have already been arrested in connection with the case, while efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused.
