A block development Officer (BDO) was arrested in a case of bribery with a sum of money amounting to 94,000 from city Railway Station today evening by Udaipur’s Anti Corruption Bureau team.

 
A block development Officer (BDO) was arrested in a case of bribery with a sum of money amounting to 94,000 from city Railway Station today evening by Udaipur’s Anti Corruption Bureau team. The money is said to be allegedly taken from many villagers of Lasaria Panchayat by the accused Gangsahay Sharma,who had been working as a BDO with The Rural Development Scheme since February 2, 2011. On a tip-off ,Udaipur ACB team led by A.S.P Vijendra Prasad, D.Y.S.P Brijesh Vyas and C.I Rajendra Singh Jain with other officials closely monitored the activities of the accused and caught him red handed with a booty of 94,300.

According to an ACB officer who assisted the operation, “the alleged money was collected from people belonging to nearly 20 villages falling under the area of gram panchayat lasariya. Though, the exact number of people afflicted by the officer is still not known.”

ACB explained that the accused used to lure the villagers by giving attractive perks and schemes under the Rural Development Scheme and out of greed villagers used to pay him bribe to get additional benefits under the aforesaid project run by the Government of Rajasthan.

The culprit was caught from city station, Udaipur while he was trying boarding Mewar Express, in a bid to abscond to his village Gyanpura.  The accused was arrested and further investigations by ACB Udaipur has started.
