[BEWARE] Online Courier booking leads to Bank Account Hack – Rs One lakh siphoned off Udaipur resident

A resident of sector 11 Hiran Magri, was looted of Rs One Lakh through an online fraud transaction, when her mobile was hacked after she clicked on a link sent to her.

The Udaipur resident, a lady was seemingly searching for a courier company in Udaipur to have her parcel delivered.  In her search, she came across a list of companies, but on calling each of them, her call was not answered.  After a while she got a call on her mobile from an unknown number who claimed to be a Courier agent.  The lady was not sure of the call being genuine and asked a few questions on the location.  She even offered to have the parcel delivered physically.

However, the caller said that she needed to click on a link sent to her mobile and the booking would be done, post which the parcel will be collected.  The moment she clicked on her link, her Bank account transactions began to happen automatically.  Technically, it was a link that led to the hacking of her mobile, from which sensitive information was taken and her Bank account was hacked. The moment she got the first information SMS of a transaction in her account, she tried to transfer her funds from one account to another, but by then the hackers had conveniently siphoned off Rs One Lakh from her Bank account that they had hacked.

A report was filed in Surajpol Police station.  The police have referred the matter to the IT (Cyber) Cell and investigations are on.
