A 36 year old CCTV Camera dealer has been arrested for allegedly installing hidden (spy) cameras inside an apartment, which he rented out to 4 girls at Parth Complex located near Bohra Ganesh Ji temple in Udaipur. He was produced in court on Monday and was remanded to judicial custody.

Deputy SP, Udaipur, Shipra Rajawat informed that the accused Rajendra Soni alias Raj was a businessman and deals in the CCTV cameras and Security Systems.

Police have recovered as many as 6 objectionable video clips from the mobile phone of the accused of far and the investigation is still on. Police is also investigating and identifying the persons selling spy cameras in the city.

Rajawat, in her interaction  with media said that the  victim girls had lodged a complaint a few days ago that while undertaking repair work for a short circut in their rented apartment some days ago, they came across a spy camera inside the bathroom.  They informed that the house was owned by Rajendra Soni, a resident of Nathdwara. Based upon the complaint of the girls a case was registered against the accused under Section 354G, Section 509 of IPC and section 66e, 67, 67A of IT act and Sections of STSC and the investigation was launched.

"During the house search two more hidden cameras were recovered from the house that were subsequently seized and the accused Rajendra Soni was later arrested", said Deputy SP Rajawat.

During the verification of his mobile phone it was found that he had connected his mobile phone with the cameras with the help of internet router and had seen the videos of the girls several times since July 2022.

Rajawat said that though it was not clear that he had uploaded the videos or sold it to someone else, but during interrogation he accepted that he saw the videos multiple times.

"We are interrogating the accused and investigating further on whether the accused had ever blackmailed any girl earlier or had sold the videos to someone else", Rajawat added.
