An elderly woman has become the latest victim of chain snatching when a man riding on a bike snatched her 17gm gold chain and fled away. The incident occurred today near Sarv Ritu Vilas around 12:30 in the afternoon. An FIR has been lodged at Surajpol Police Station.

Madhukanta Devi (60), a house wife was going home at 4, Shivaji Nagar after visiting the nearby Sagasji Bawji Temple, when suddenly a man on a gearless bike arrived from behind and snatched the lady’s gold chain worth more than Rs.40,000. “I thought my chain was accidently stuck in his hand so I called him but he ran away; then I realized that I’d been robbed”, said Madhukanta while talking to UdaipurTimes.com.

According to Madhukanta Devi, the suspected snatcher was 30-35 year man riding a Scooty but she couldn’t remember the face or vehicle number.

Immediately after the incident, she called her daughter Vinita Maheshwari and grandson Rahul Maheshwari for help. Investigations have begun after the report was lodged with the police.

Unlike other several chain snatching incidents that have occurred in the city, here the robber was alone and used a gearless bike to do the crime.
