The social stigma of Child Marriage is rampant in Rajasthan and time and again instances of this social evil comes to light. This time the instance happened in Chittorgarh but was foiled. Appropriate intervention by the Chittorgarh Administration and Police over the last couple of days led to 45 instances of child marriage being identified timely and stopped.  An NGO, Shri Aasra Vikas Sansthan also played a significant role during the operation.

The team has so far prevented more than 45 child marriages in 25 Police Station Circles across Chittorgarh district. Children whose marriages were prevented were between 12 to 18 years of age.

SP Chittorgarh Rajan Dushyant said that it was one of the biggest actions against child marriages in the district and possibly in the state. The marriages were prevented by a joint efforts of the Chittorgarh Administration, NGOs and Police and the Additional SP of Women Atrocity Prevention Cell.

The parents involved in these instances were rounded up and bound to cease from this practice, else face criminal charges. SP Rajan Dushyant said that this control will continue in future as well.

Expressing concern about this social evil of child marriage, Bhojraj Singh Padampura, Founder, Shri Aasra Vikas Sansthan said, “This action is a positive message against child marriage in the district and will help in spreading awareness among the general public. Our organization, along with Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation, is working to eliminate this social evil. We are taking all possible steps along with running an awareness campaign. Child marriage is a cruel attack on human freedom, dignity, social morality, equality and inclusiveness. Our goal is to make India a child marriage free country by 2030 by completely eliminating child marriage from the society."
