Early today morning at 7:10, Sanjay Mehta was waiting for a bus at Thokar Chouraha, he was going to bachi, Chittor for business purpose. Sanjay was carrying a bag with some gold jewellery in it.

Suddenly, two men approached him from a car; but before sanjay could react he was pushed inside the vehicle where three other men grabbed him in.

Sanjay screamed for help and also tried to retaliate but the goons overpowered him and drove away the car towards Hiran Magri.

Few people who witnessed the incident have immediately informed police, one auto rickshaw driver also tried to follow the abductor’s car.

According to the sources, in fear of being identified, the robbers decided to leave sanjay in an isolated place.

They thrashed him badly before dropping him at kharpina village and took away his bag and all his personal belongings including wallet.

According to Sanjay there was 3 kg of gold ornaments in that bag, though police didn’t confirmed it yet and asked him to give the receipt of the looted jewellery to estimate its worth.

Sanjay Mehta who is resident of Hiran Magri sector 5 owns a jewellery shop in Bada Bazaar with the name Yash Jewellers. He told police that there were 5 people all age 26 – 30 and by language they seem from West Bengal. The car number was MH 01- 9801.

Police is now investigating according to the physical descriptions and vehicle details given by witnesses and the victim Sanjay Mehta.

Thokar Chouraha remains the busiest in morning time as large numbers of daily commuters use it as entry and exit point of Udaipur city.

Because of alertness of people and that brave auto rickshaw driver, the police have traced Sanjay safely.

But crime is scattering its ugly head in the peaceful city of lakes. Robbery, theft and murder in day light became common these days.

Authority might have bundle of excuses but safety of public should be the top priority.
