Two dozen students were detained at Mewar University after an argument between two groups

Udaipur,26.08.23- Two student of Mewar University of Chittorgarh got seriously injured and more than half a dozen people also sustained injures in a fight broke out between a group of local and Kashmiri students of University located in Gangrar area of ​​Chittorgarh district on Friday.T The incident occurred while having dinner in the mess located in the university campus, the local students had an argument  with Kashmiri students over some issue , soon more than two dozen Kashmiri students attacked the youths with weapons,  two students got severely injured during the attack .They were rushed to  the hospital, from where a student was referred to Government Maharana Bhopal hospital of Udaipur.

Here, upon getting the information of the incident, members of the Hindu organization of the town reached at the university, they started protesting by raising objectionable slogans from the Kashmiri students, and started pelting stones at them.

During this, a heavy police force was deployed outside the campus. 

Bug Lal Meena Additional Sp Chittorgarh said " It was around 9.30 pm when we got the information of the incident, soon a team of police from Gangrar police station rushed to the scene. As per the information the argument started between twp students including a Kashmiri student and a local at the time dinner. Soon it turned massive as more students from both the sides jumped into it and few students pelted stones. The injured students were sent to hospital for treatment while 2 dozen of students including the local students, students from Kashmir and Jammu were detained by the police. Later cross cases were registered from both the sides and on the basis of which an investigation has been launched".

Additional Sp further said that all the students that were detained were booked under section 151 Crpc, however peace resorted at the university and the situation is under control. 

The former in-charge of Bajrang Dal Chittorgarh wing Mukesh Nahata told that no proper action is ever taken by the university administration so far, it was the 5th such incident of the clash in the university with the Kashmiri students. We want to ask that how the weapons reached inside an education institution. We want strict  action against the culprit. However police have detained many students that had created a ruckus last night but we want a permanent solution of the problem".

One of the student hailing from Kashmir Abrar Ahmed said the that it was just a small argument between two student over the issue taking the food first from the food counter, and it got sorted after the warden intervened. But later around four hundred people came and started calling slogans against Kashimiris and also pelted stones. Later Kashmiri students also started calling slogans.


On the other hand one of the local student of the University Hardik Joshi by denying the statement of Abrar said that the matter started after around 4-5 Kashmiri students beaten up a local student Ayush following a heated argument with him. Talking about the stone pelting he said that the Kashimiri students went towards the Basketball court after the argument they were having stones with them and started pelting the them first.
