Revenue Intelligence Seizes 2kilo Cocaine in Surat - Nearly 26kilo Since May 2026
Udaipur, June 26, 2026: Drug Trafficking News: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today seized 2 kg cocaine at Surat and arrested one person involved in its illicit trafficking under the relevant provisions of NDPS Act, 1985.
This is a result of the continuing crackdown by the DRI to curb drug trafficking and dismantling the narcotics supply networks in the region under the Government of India's Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign.
A series of operations at various airports, railway stations, courier terminals and highways across Ahmedabad, Cochin, Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Patna led to a cumulative seizure of 26kg cocaine since May 2026. During these operations 22 persons have been detained, which included 14 foreign nationals. Gujarat News in English
How are the drugs being trafficked
The contraband was trafficked through various modus operandi such as ingestion (swallowing drug-filled capsules or pellets for internal concealment within the body), concealment in household and edible items, soaking them in fabrics, concealment in baggage etc.
International Day Against Drugs
June 26 is observed as the International Day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Established by the United Nations in 1987, this day is dedicated internationally to strengthening global action, raising awareness about the devastating impacts of substance abuse, and combating the illegal drug trade. DRI has consistently targeted organized syndicates engaged in the trafficking of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, through coordinated efforts.
