An unlicensed food production unit in Dhanmandi police station area was raided today afternoon and expired eatbles were confiscated.
The team, under directions of Dr Dinesh Kharadi, CMHO, Udaipur raided Madhur Food Products, a sweetmeat production unit in Nada Khada, Dhanmandi. This unit is operational in a semi ruined house in Joshi ji ki Gali, Nada Khada and was found to be without any firm registration papers.
Health department suspects that such produce is dangerous for consumers, specially during these times, when outside food consumption needs to be restricted.
CMHO Dr Dinesh Kharadi informed that the department had been receiving complains about this unit, which produces Suji ki Chakki (using Semolina and sugar syrup) under the brand name Mahadev. The team raided the premised on 21 August and tested the quality of the produce. The produce was found to be of poor quality. Containers of this sweet have already been sold to many sweet vendors in the city. The labels on the containers mentioned नकली माल से सावधान.
The owner of the firm was not able to provide any registration papers and his responses to the team's queries were found to be vague and unsatisfactory. The samples of the sweet containers have been sent for testing and the owners have been instructed to handover the firms registration papers to the department within three days.
