A couple going on motorcycle were robbed while a man who came to try and protect them was shot dead today morning. The incident happened on Udaipur-Chittorgarh highway near Keer ki Chauki.

Chenaram (48), a resident of Kheroda was going from Kheroda to Akola with his wife Laxmi Devi (45) on a motorcycle today morning. Chenaram slowed the bike near a barrier situated outside Pandit Hotel before Keer ki Chowki. When their bike slowed down, two miscreants coming at speed from behind deliberately crashed into Chenaram’s bike and the couple fell to the ground.

The two miscreants then picked up a fight with them and started hitting the couple and trying to rob them. Watching this, Kalu Khan (38) and Umesh Dangi standing on other side of the road rushed to help the couple. Kalu managed to get hold of one of the miscreants. In trying to save his partner, the other miscreant fired at Kalu.

Because the fire was made from a short distance, the bullet pierced the heart of Kalu and went through his body. Kalu immediately fell on the ground. Kalu’s relatives rushed to the spot and before they could take him to the hospital, Kalu succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital.

The two miscreants in the meanwhile fled the scene. ASP Narayan Singh Rajpurohit assured Kalu’s family members of early resolution of the case and payment of compensation to Kalu’s family members.
