Beware of the salesmen who come to you with a variety of home products, toys and books.

Until now we have had thieves getting away with motorcycles, cars, water-pumps and even iron gates. This time the news is about cycle thieves. In the modern world when people are more into buying hi-tech vehicles, cycle thieves have suddenly become active.

Now that people have started riding cycles(mostly expensive ones) from health point of view, Ambamata locality saw a number of expensive cycles stolen from home. Police nabbed one such racket which worked as salesmen in colonies selling books for children. 2 salesmen have been arrested whereas one escaped.

Kumaraswamy(25) s/o Maleya Munerkapo from Rumpykunda in Karim Nagar and Manoj(25) s/o Sopan Vijay Kumar Chimla of Hyderabad have been arrested by the police. Another culprit Ajay Singh s/o Rajendra Singh Chavkar of Hyderabad city managed to escape. The racket has around 6 people who are active since past one and half month and has been stealing expensive cycles from homes. The culprits first do a recce of the house they visit as salesmen for children’s books and then steal the cycles when people are not around or taking afternoon naps.

The victims posted CCTV footage of the culprits on facebook to which people started reacting with clues. One such person spotted in the CCTV camera was said to be residing in front of BSNL office in Sector 4, Hiranmagri. On receiving this information, police officer Chandra Purohit formed a team and went to sector 4 with Indubala Sharma, Narendra Singh and Dinesh Kumar. 3 people were found in the house amongst whom was the one spotted on CCTV. The three culprits fled from their hide-out. 2 were caught by the police whereas one managed to escape. The culprits confessed their crime upon investigation.

Jyotiraditya Singh Rajawat s/o Col.Hemant Singh Rajawat had filed a complaint about his cycle being stolen from home. As per the report, a Racer Hercules Montara cycle was stolen from Fatehpura on 21st June around 5 p.m. Even the neighbours had no clue about it. The cycle was worth 16,500 rupees. When CCTV footage was checked, a salesman posing as a person selling books for children was seen taking the cycle away.

Police are trying to find the 3rd culprit as well.
