A daughter-in-law who murdered the mother-in-law following domestic fights has been awarded life imprisonment by the court. Meera Rawat strangled her mother-in-law last year in February 2017. The matter was reported in Dabok police station by the victim’s husband after which police has arrested Meera Rawat.

During interrogations Meera said that she was tired of her mother-in-law’s nagging and fighting as a result of which she strangled her with a dupatta. Supporting evidences were presented in the court. The court sentenced Meera to life imprisonment and 20000 rupees as fine under Section 302.

As reported by the victim’s husband, he was away to meet his daughters in nearby village. His wife was alone at home. In the evening he was informed by his nephew that his wife did not return home with the cattle which she had taken for grazing. When he went searching for his wife, he found her body in a nallah. There was dupatta around her neck which showed that she had been strangled to death. The suspicion went immediately towards the daughter-in-law as she used to fight with the mother-in-law. Meera was living separately from the in-laws and used to provoke her husband against the mother. After Meera’s confessions, the court declared her as the murderer and awarded her with life-imprisonment.
