One man was shot dead in Dholi Bawdi (nr Delhi gate) near Udaipur Urban Co-operative Bank today morning. It appears that the crime was carried out with the objective of looting cash from the deceased.

The deceased has been identified as Pramod Mehta. Pramod was a medicine supplier and was going to Udaipur Urban Co-operative Bank situated at Taj Complex, Dholi Bawdi for depositing money.

As per the information received, two miscreants were moving around in that area waiting for opportune moment of looting people. They spotted Pramod going to the bank to deposit money. They tried to snatch the bag full of cash from Pramod. When the accused failed in their attempt, they fired at Pramod from their pistol. The bullet ran through his shoulder and got stuck in his heart.

Police rushed to the spot and immediately took Pramod to MB Hospital. Pramod passed away during treatment.

Pramod was a resident of Badi Holi and was a medicine supplier with Parshavnath medicine at Hazareshwar Colony. He had gone out for 3-4 days for payment collection and had come back to Udaipur today only. He was going to Udaipur Urban Cooperative Bank’s branch to deposit 2 Lakh Rupees when the incident happened.

Police is currently investigating the entire matter and is questioning his relatives and co-workers for getting possible cues.
