Being daily hit by her husband, Nikita (22) could not take it any more and finally ended her life on Saturday evening by consuming poison.

Nikita, a resident of Sharma gali, Delhi Gate, had married neighbour Narendra Prajapat about a year and a half back. This was a love marriage. The couple have a 7-month old daughter.

Shortly after marriage, Narendra started torturing and hitting Nikita soon after marriage. In past also, troubled by regular hitting and torture, Nikita had gone back to her parent’s place but Narendra got her back after persuasion.

Narendra runs a stall selling Kachori-Samosa on Dholi-Bawdi road. On Saturday evening, Nikita went to the stall to ask for some money to buy household stuff. When she asked for money, Narendra assaulted her in front of people in the market. Nikita went back to her house, picked their daughter and dropped her at her parent’s place. She then came back home and consumed poison to end life. With poison reacting in body, Nikita rushed back to her parent’s place where she fell down in an unconscious state. The family rushed her to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The victim’s father has lodged a complaint of dowry related torture resulting in death at Dhanmandi Police Station. Team from Dhanmandi Police Station and members of FSL team reached their house and took significant evidence from the spot.

Police has arrested Narendra and started investigation.
