The case dates back to 2018 when the doctor charged the fees when the patient merely enquired about the charges of DNC.

A doctor has been penalised by the Consumer Forum for charging unnecessary fees from a patient. The case dates back to April 2018.

A woman went to her doctor on 25th April 2018 after she faced some health issues. Based on the consultation with the doctor, she underwent certain tests and went back to the doctor with the reports the same day. She was adviced to get a DNC done.

She then went to Rajasthan Hospital and Research Centre in Sector 14 and asked for the charges for DNC. The receptionist sent her to Dr Sunil Goyal. When the woman went to Dr Goyal, he started filling the consultation form. When the woman's husband insisted that they merely want to know the charges, the doctor did not tell them the charge instead handed over an incomplete form to them and charged 200 rupees.

The woman and her husband then filed a complaint about the matter after which Maruti Seva Samiti sent a notice to the doctor. The doctor did not respond to this notice. The Consumer Forum also sent a notice but did not get any response from the doctor.

The Forum has hence penalised Dr Sunil Goyal with 5200 rupees where 3000 rupees are against mental agony, 2000 rupees agaisnt court fees and 200 rupees of the fee charged by him.
