Banswara, December 16, 2024 – A disturbing incident of alleged assault and intimidation has  came to light at Paloda Government Hospital in Banswara, where two nursing staff members reportedly locked their medical in-charge, Dr. Himanshu Nanda, inside a room and threatened him with a gun . The situation escalated after the doctor filed a complaint with the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) and the district collector, prompting further retaliation from the nursing staff. CCTV footage of the incident has now emerged, shedding light on the alarming events.

The incident occurred on December 12, when Dr. Nanda, who serves as the medical in-charge at the hospital, issued a notice to nursing staff members Gulab Katara and Abhishek Nitin over repeated absenteeism. The disciplinary action, which required a written explanation from the nursing staff, was met with growing displeasure from the duo.

Later that day, the two nursing staff approached Dr. Nanda under the guise of requesting a room allocation application for the hospital's dharmshala (guesthouse). Dr. Nanda, after accepting their application, accompanied the staff to show them the room. Once inside, the nursing staff allegedly locked Dr. Nanda in the room, subjected him to threats, and demanded he open the door, warning him of death if he resisted. According to reports, the nursing staff were reportedly drunk at the time.

Dr. Kuldeep, a colleague of Dr. Nanda, noticed the locked door and suspicious noises emanating from within. Alarmed, he alerted hospital staff, and together they managed to free Dr. Nanda from the confined space. 

The situation took a darker turn the following day when the two nursing staff reportedly arrived at the hospital armed with a gun, escalating the threat against Dr. Nanda. Dr. Nanda, shaken by the events, filed a formal report at the Lohariya police station on Sunday.

In his report, Dr. Nanda detailed the harassment and threats, which were reportedly carried out by two individuals known for their disruptive behavior at the hospital. The incident is under investigation, with CCTV footage of the room providing crucial evidence.

It was on December 13 Dr. Nanda approached the district headquarters, meeting with CMHO Dr. H.L. Tabiya and District Collector Indrajit Yadav, urging them to take swift and decisive action against the accused nursing staff. The medical in-charge demanded strict disciplinary measures, citing the serious nature of the threats.

Banswara Superintendent of Police (SP) Harshvardhan Agarwala confirmed that a formal investigation is underway. "We have received a complaint from Dr. Nanda, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the evidence gathered," SP Agarwala stated.
