Executive Engineer and Assistant Engineer caught taking Rs 1.44L bribe

The executive engineer has been identified as Mahaveer Singh while Assistant Engineer has been identified as Prakash Chandra Ranawar. The duo were caught red-handed while taking bribe of Rs 34,900 and Rs 1,09,500 respectively.
The arrested duo were demanding bribe from a contractor in lieu of releasing payment for the work that he had undertaken. The trap was laid under leadership of ACB add SP Narottam Varma.
The contractor working for Krishi Mandi, Udaipur had approached ACB. He said that he had undertaken various works for which Rs 17 lakh payment was pending. When the contractor approached the two engineers, they demanded bribe for releasing the payment.
The ACB then verified the genuineness of the claim. Once the veracity of complaint was verified, ACB laid a trap and the duo were caught red-handed by ACB.
ACB has booked them under different sections of Prevention of Corruption Act and will now be producing them in court.
