Film Producer and Wife Sent to 7-Day Police Custody by Udaipur Court
Mumbai film producer and his wife have been accused in a Rs 30-crore fraud case made by the director of an IVF company in Udaipur
Udaipur, Dec 10, 2025 - The Mumbai film producer and his wife, who were brought to Udaipur from Mumbai in a Rs 30-crore fraud case, have been sent to seven days police custody. Police had sought custody to thoroughly investigate the financial transactions and documents related to the case, which the Court approved.
A special police team arrested both accused from Mumbai and brought them to Udaipur on Wednesday late evening under the supervision of Investigating Officer DSP Chhagan Rajpurohit. According to officials, the arrest was made from Ganga Bhavan Apartments on Yari Road, which is said to be the residence of the producer’s sister-in-law. After securing transit remand from Bandra Court, both were brought to Udaipur for further legal action.
The case stems from serious allegations made by the director of an IVF company in Udaipur. The FIR, filed on November 17, names eight people, including the film producer and his wife. According to the complaint, the victim met the producer at an event where he proposed making a biopic on the victim’s wife and claimed the film would highlight her contributions to the nation.
In April 2024, the victim was called to Vrindavan Studio in Mumbai, where the agreement for the biopic was finalised. The allegations state that a Rs 40 crore contract was signed for two films — “Biopic” and “Maharana”. The producer was to handle production, while the victim would invest the funds.
Between May 2024 and June 2025, the victim has said he made multiple payments totalling Rs 30 crore. However, when communication from the production team suddenly stopped and emails went unanswered, the victim suspected fraud and filed a complaint on November 8.
DSP Rajpurohit said, “We have arrested both accused from Mumbai and brought them to Udaipur. They have been presented in Court and further legal actions will proceed as per the law.”
Meanwhile, the accused’s lawyer has said that the matter is a misunderstanding. He said, “This is a case of miscommunication. We are fully cooperating. It is an accounts mismatch issue created due to confusion by a third person. Once the documents are matched, everything will be clear. Police requested remand for this reason, and the Court has granted seven days of police custody.”
Considering the seriousness of the case, police are conducting an in-depth investigation into the financial transactions, bank statements and documentary evidence. Technical analysis and detailed questioning are expected to continue in the coming days.
