A businessman was fired at yesterday night near Green View Hotel on Gulab Bagh road. The firing was carried out at the behest of history sheeter in a case of illegal extortion of money.

The businessman, Ghanshyam Tewani (s/o Heeranand) has registered a case against 7-8 people of Azam gang including history sheeter Ayub Shah. Ghanshyam received head injuries in the incident.

Ghanshyam has 3 handicraft showrooms in the city including Alibaba Arts and Craft near UIT office and Kajri Arts on Gulab Bagh road. Ghanshyam mentioned in his report to Police that he has been threatened in past as well by Ayub Khan for illegal extortion of money.

Ghanshyam mentioned that on Friday night he reached near Green View Hotel from his shop Alibaba Arts and craft for some work. As soon as he stepped out of his car, a bunch of goons who were waiting for him reached him and asked him to speak with Ayub Shah. The moment Ghanshyam started talking on phone, the goons started hitting him. One accused fired two shots at him but both missed him. He then hit Ghanshyam hard with the pistol base.

On receiving information ASP Sudhir Joshi reached the spot with his police team. Ghanshyam was taken to the hospital for treatment. Police recovered two bullets and the pistol spring from the spot.
