Yesterday evening, Akhtar, brother of history sheeter Azam was shot in the Mukherjee Chowk area. The accused shooter had come to the area on a scooter with a female and shot at Akhtar while sitting on the scooter and fled the scene post that.

Public shooting sent shivers in the area. Police team immediately reached the spot post the firing. It is speculated that one Imran Koonjda was behind the shooting incident but police is yet to confirm the same. It may be noted that Azam and Imran had a strong rivalry and the incident is being linked to the same.

Akhtar Rasool (46) s/o Saheen Ahmed informed that he has a hotel right below the mosque there. When he was shutting his hotel at 9:15pm yesterday, he spotted a man sitting on a red scooter behind a lady. The man sitting behind the lady took out a pistol and fired at Akhtar. Akhtar turned his back on this and the cartridge got stuck in his back. He fell down due to the strike.

Akhtar’s uncle and people nearby took Akhtar took his house nearby from where he was taken to the hospital. Surajpole SHO, Herambh Joshi, Rajesh Sharma, Dhanmandi SHO immediately reached the spot with their team and started investigation.

A special team has been formed for investigating the incident.
