Police managed to make headway in the case of firing on BJP Youth Wing leader Kundan Singh Chauhan at Ghantaghar area on 25-Apr. Two juveniles have been arrested by the police in the case while the prime accused is still at large.

ASP Harsh Ratnu informed that firing on Kundan Singh was carried out by Sonu alias Soyal. His partners in crime included Jameel, Sameer, Chhota Mewati and 2 juveniles. On day of the crime, all 6 people came on 3 motorcycles. 2 people stood at the lane at Maldas street, 2 people some way ahead while Sonu and Mewati reached Kundan’s shop. Sonu went inside Kundan’s shop and fired at him. After this all the 6 fled on their motorcycles and met at Savina. From there they dispersed in different directions.

Police team under Deputy Bhanwar Singh Hada and including CI Gopal Chandel checked the CCTV footage in the area. In one of the CCTV footages, the Police team was able to trace the motorcycle number. The motorcycle was identified to be of Kheradiwada resident Mahesh s/o Prakash Kumawat. Mahesh said that Sonu had taken the motorcycle from him on 25-Apr. Sonu then told him that the motorcycle had met with an accident and he was getting it repaired. Police then checked at Sonu’s residence and found him missing. The clues led Police to 2 juveniles involved in the crime and they were arrested. Juveniles acknowledged that they had been surveying the area for last 1 month before carrying out the firing.

Firing was a result of personal grudge that Sonu had against Kundan. The grudge was because Kundan had supported one Harish Goswami in getting Sonu’s father, Shaukat arrested in a case of assault. As a result, Shaukat could not attend his son Siddique’s wedding. Since that incident Sonu had made up his mind of taking revenge against Kundan.
