In a joint operation, Special Operations Group (SOG) and Udaipur Police arrested a man with Rs 31.5 Lakh cash from a hotel in Udaipur today morning.

Kailash Chandra Bishnoi, Udaipur SP, said that the joint team received a tip-off early morning about the suspected man staying in a hotel in Surajpole with huge amount of unaccounted cash. The joint team raided Hotel Space, located at Surajpole and nabbed Prashant Maheshwari with Rs 31.5 Lakh cash.

Maheshwari, suspected to be a Hawala trader, was arrested by the Police after he failed to produce any documents related to the cash and also failed to give any compelling argument about holding the cash. Cash was seized from the location and Maheshwari was arrested under section 102 of IPC.

SP Bishnoi said that Police department has informed the Income Tax department also about the cash seizure.
