A police constable got injured after a History Sheeter and a notorious criminal Vansa Ram and his associates attacked the police team in a bid to resist the arrest, they also took away the police van here at Pahada station circle of Udaipur in early hours on Wednesday.

This is the second such incident of Udaipur within a month in which the police officer has been attacked by the criminals.

The incident occurred when the team of Pahada police station went to arrest the accused Vansa Ram his brother Ganga ram who was wanted in a recent case and was absconding since a long time. Both the brothers are the history sheeters of Pahada police station.

However the injured constable Rajesh Kumar was rushed to the hospital and later a case has been registered against the accused and a hunt has been launched. The police van has been later recovered few kilometers away from the place of incident, said Sp Vikas Sharma.

Sharma said that Vansa Ram is a History Sheeter of the Pahada police station  had more than 18 criminal cases registered against him while his brother Gangaram is having 15 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations , the police team was in thier lookout. On Wednesday morning the police got a tipoff that the accused were coming to thier house at Pahada village.Upon getting the information a team from the police station including 6-7 police men rushed towards his house to arrest him. The team moved towards the house of the wanted criminals while the driver of the police van parked the vehicle around 150  meters away from the house and stayed there with the vehicle. Seeing the police team the accused  tried to fled the scene, they came towards the main road where they found the driver alone in the police van, they attacked him, beaten him badly and took away the police van, but they left the police few meters away at an isolated place,said Sp Vikas Sharma.

The injured constable was shifted to the MB hospital for treatment who later lodged a complaint against the accused, following which an investigation has been launched, Sp Sharma added.

In another incident that took place of 27th April where seven police men including the Station House Officer got injured after miscreants them and opened fire during a raid at Mandwa area of the district.

The police team had gone to conduct a raid to arrested the History Sheeter Raniya and his son Khatru that were wanted in a recent incident of loot. The police team was attacked with knives, sticks and stones. The accused had also snatched a SLR rifle and a pistol from the police and also opened fire at them. 6 policemen got injured during the incident and were shifted to the MB hospital and the search for the accused has been launched.
