Adding to another crime on the Highways surrounding the city, a case of robbing a car and assaulting its driver by 5 hitchhikers was registered at the Goverdhan Vilas Police station yesterday evening.

According to the Police, Dungarnath, resident of Surat was going back to Surat from Udaipur in his cousin, Deepak Bolia’s, car who is a resident of Machla Magra in the evening yesterday.

On his way, he gave a ride to 5 unknown people near the Balicha Bypass who asked him to drop them at Shamla village.

The 5 suspected robbers allegedly robbed Dungarnath on gunpoint. They later dumped him in an isolated place and took away the car, cash and mobile phone.

Dungarnath somehow managed to return to Udaipur in the morning and lodged a complaint in the Goverdhan Vilas Police Station.

The Police have led an investigation on this case.
