House Burgled on Main Road – Police refuse to file FIR

A sad affair for Police administration was reported by a resident of Udaipur, Babu Lal Jain, whose house got burgled while they were away travelling.

In the updates received from the land lord, the family holds a three storey house on Bedla Road in Fatehpura, of which the ground and first floor are rented out.  The owners reside on the second floor and travel regularly.  This time, when they were away during the New Years weekend, their house got burgled in the absence of the tenants who were away during the holiday weekend as well.

As per the owner, their brother, who lives next door, informed the police of the robbery when he noticed the doors open the next day.  An estimated Rs. 4-5 Lakh worth of jewelry and cash was looted by the burglars.  The thieves forced through the doors and broke open the heavy duty locks which were securing the property. They first broke open the locks on the ground floor stair case entrance and then the locks doors of the owners floor eventually gaining entrance to my bedroom where the valuables were kept in a steel cabinet.

It looks like the thief did some intelligence gathering to choose the time for burglary.

To add further insult to injury, the police visited but didn’t take any fingerprints or registered an FIR till date.  The owner was appalled at the police administration’s response and alleged that the Police had almost given away any scope for investigation and foregone any hope of catching the culprits.
