Udaipur Police have arrested five people on Monday, 15 May for indulging in a betting racket related to the ongoing IPL (Indian Premier League) Cricket tournament. The bets were being played on the Kolkatta Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai SUper Kings (CSK) match on Sunday, 14 May. The arrests were effected on Dadiya Road, Majawadi area in Gogunda. The bets were being laid and managed throuugh mobile (smart) phones,said SP Vikas Sharma elaborating on the arrest and other details.
During the raid at Dadiya, the police have confiscated 2 Laptops, 2 Tablets, 2 LED TVs and 23 mobile phones apart from other equipment that was being used to effect the betting process. A few diaries Rupeerand notebooks having records of lakhs of and other equipments and few note books having records of lakhs of rupees were also recovered from those arrested.
The accused were identified as Tulsiram Prajapat, Pranesh Joshi, Gopi Lal Prajapat, Bhagwati Lal Prajapat and Hitesh Rao. All the accused were arrested and booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police during the raid found that an accused was busy in making entries about the game in a note book while one of his accomplise was communicating about the rates. During the initial investigation it was also found that the accused were involved in crores of rupees betting via different mobile apps.
