Thieves made away with cash and gold jewellery worth Rs 7 Lakh from a house situated in Lovely State Colony, New Keshav Nagar yesterday night.

The theft happened in the house of a businessman Rajesh s/o Dhoolchand Jain. Rajesh said that the family had gone for a wedding last night. In the meanwhile, thieves made their way into the house from the rear entrance after breaking open the kitchen door.

Rajesh reported that when the family returned back from the wedding, the main door was absolutely fine. However, when they came in, the luggage in all their three rooms was scattered and they realised that the house had been broken in.

The thieves broken open the cupboard locks and took out stuff from underneath the bed and other areas.

Rajesh runs a gift item shop at Kalaji Goraji area. He reported that they had kept around 1 Lakh Rupees in a locker underneath the bed and had gold and silver jewellery in the cupboard. Rajesh reported loss of 2 gold necklace sets, 6 bangles and 4 gold rings besides other silver ornaments and temple utensils.

A report has been lodged with Sukher Police Station and Police has started investigating the CCTV footage in the area.
