LeT Co-Founder Amir Hamza Shot at in Lahore
Amir Hamza, a senior Lashkar-e-Toiba figure, was critically injured in a targeted shooting near a news channel office in Lahore; authorities have launched an investigation as motives remain unclear
April 16, 2026 - Amir Hamza, co-founder of Pakistan-based outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was shot and critically wounded by unidentified gunmen in Lahore, Pakistan, earlier today (April 16). The attack occurred outside a news channel office in the city, as per reports. Two unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle are suspected to have opened fire on him before fleeing.
Hamza (66) is considered a close ally of LeT co-founder Hafiz Saeed and a senior ideologue of LeT, a group designated as a terrorist organisation by the United States and several other countries. This is the second attempt on his life in less than a year. He was previously shot at and injured in 2025 as well.
No group has claimed responsibility so far. Pakistani authorities have launched an investigation and search operation. Motive remains unclear — possibilities being discussed include internal rivalries or targeted retaliation.
