A man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 1.5 year old girl in a village here at Udaipur on Thursday. Following the complaint from girl's family a case was filed at Bekariya police station of the district and the investigation was launched.

SP Udaipur Yogesh Goyal said " The girl was rushed to the MB hospital for treatment, and the has been arrested and booked under sections of Indian Penal Code including section 376 (Punishment for rape) and sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO ) and he is under police interrogation".

Goyal said that the incident occurred when the victim girl was alone at the house as her parents were out for some work and one of her aunt was at the nearby house. The accused who is one of her relatives came to her house and by taking the advantage of the situation he tried to rape her, but the girl started crying following which her aunt came to the house and found her with injuries on her private parts, she also spotted the accused going out of the house. She than raised an alarm and soon the neighbors and other relatives gathered outside the house, soon her parents also came to the house and later victim's father lodged an FIR against the accused blaming him for attempting rape.

Acting upon the complaint the police immediately launched a man hunt and nabbed the accused, the medical examination of the victim girl was conducted and the interrogation of the accused is still on, SP Goyal added.
