Udaipur,03.01.24- A 45 year old man has been arrested at Dungarpur for killing a 25 year old woman and burying her body in the ground near his house.

The dead body of the deceased woman was exhumed on Wednesday morning in the presence of the SDM and was shifted to mortuary for postmortem, said Deputy Sp Tapendra Kumar Meena.
Meena said " It was on Tuesday evening when the police got the information about the incident when the Surpanch of the area Kamlesh called the Sadar police station team saying that a woman has been buried in the ground at Manat village of Dungarpur. Upon getting the information of the incident a team from Sadar police station rushed tovthe scene and initiated an investigation into the matter. SDM was also informed about the incident and the dead body was finally exhumed on Wednesday morning. "

Meena informed that accused has been arrested and booked under several sections of Indian Penal Code including section 302. The police is now interrogating him further about the case.

Meena said that during the initial investigation it was found that accused who was identified as Ranjeet Manat (45) a resident of Dewal Manat Fala village was staying with the deceased woman from last six months in a live in relationship.As the couple does not talk to any one in the area no one was much familiar with them and even do not know her name.

Ranjeet's wife died 8 years back, since than two of his daughters were staying with one their relatives and he was staying alone. He met the victim woman six months back in a social function, befriended and started staying together, Meena added.

Deputy Sp Meena said that as the neighbours the couple were seen having arguments with each other. During the preliminary interrogation the accused first tried to mislead the police by saying that in Tuesday night he had an argument with the victim after which he had his dinner slept, when he woke up next morning he found his her mission from the house.

The postmortem of the dead body  was conducted and the police is now questioning the accused further about her identification.11:36 PM
