Man Held for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor in Dabok

Udaipur, Aug 11, 2025 - Tension prevailed in Dabok today, August 11, after an eight-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 30-year-old man. Following the incident a huge crowd gathered outside the local police station demanding swift action and arrest of the accused. 

The mob soon turned agitated and began pelting stones at the police team and administrative officials who had arrived there to probe the matter. As many as four police vehicles and few buses were damaged and 3-4 policemen sustained injuries during the stone pelting.

An additional police force from three police stations, led by Additional SP Ram Swaroop Mewara, rushed to the scene. SP Yogesh Goyal , SDM and other senior police and administrative official also reached there to take stock of the situation. 

Station House Officer of Dabok police station Hukum Singh informed that the incident occurred on Sunday, August 10, at around 7:30 pm when the accused reportedly sexually assaulted the eight-year-old girl finding her alone in the field. According to the police, the man covered her face and dragged her into the nearby bushes and fled the scene after physically abusing her.

The girl managed to reach home and inform her parents about the incident who lodged an FIR against the unidentified accused. Following the complaint the police immediately launched an investigation into the matter. FSL team, dog squad were called on the scene while CCTV cameras installed in the nearby areas were scanned . 

The police arrested a 30-year-old man, a resident of the same village, on charge of sexual assault.

SP Yogesh Goyal told UdaipurTimes team that "The situation is completely under control now. The accused has been arrested and is being booked under various sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS)."

SP Goyal further said that despite quick police action a few anti-social elements among the villagers tried to turn the situation ugly. They instigated others and indulged in stone pelting during which some police personnel were injured and around 4-5 police vehicles were vandalised.

As many as 22 people have been detained for this incident. 

Meanwhile, the victim is receiving treatment at the hospital and her condition is said to be stable.
