A few days back, a man posing to be a famous MP of Udaipur took money from a jeweller and ran away. This man has now been arrested.

Suresh Kumar Bhairiya resident of Ramdev Road in Pali has been arrested on Tuesday. Suresh posed to be an MP from Udaipur and called up a jeweller for financial help. Over the phone call, he mentioned that his relative was admitted in hospital and he (MP) was away to Jaipur for meeting. He asked for 5 lakh rupees to be delivered to someone in the nearby market area. When the jeweller did not receive any phone call days later after delivering the amount, he called up on the number he had received the call from. The impostor refused to return the money after which the jeweller understood that he had been duped.

FIR was lodged against this unknown caller. That same day, police arrested 2 thugs from Bhilwara. One of them was Suresh who confessed committing this crime. The modus operandi was another eye opener for police. These people used to apply different names on the true-caller app. As a result, the person receiving their call would see the caller’s name as that of some high personality and get duped by these thugs. The impostor is now behind bars.
