A man died after falling from the 3rd floor of under-construction building in Ashok Nagar. A case of negligence has been registered against the contractor for not providing safety equipments and for using low quality material used for supporters meant for the labourers.

A building for the staff of Municipal Corporation is under construction near the fire station in Ashok Nagar. On Friday morning, one of the labourers was preparing to apply plaster on the building. The bamboo used in the supporter platform used by the labourer broke. Reportedly the material used in the platform was of a very low quality. The platform broke and the labourer fell down from the 3rd floor. Severe head injuries lead to his death on the spot.

A case of negligence has been registered against the contractor based on the report of the father of the victim. As reported by the father, his son was not provided with adequate safety equipments when he went up the platform to the 3rd floor. Had he been wearing the helmet, he would not have received head injuries and probably could have been saved.

The family members of the victim created a ruckus and demanded financial compensation from the contractor. A case of negligence under IPC Section 304-A has been registered against the contractor and the body has been kept in the mortuary since the contractor did not agree to the demands of compensation.
