Identified as Bhagwanlal, son of Naganji Bagthala from Semari, Sarada tehsil near Udaipur the accused used to target taxi drivers in the region.
A team of police personnel from Sarada Police station, consisting of Ratan Singmh, Hitpal Singh and Nathulal apprehended the mastermind behind a dozen mobile thefts in the region from Rishabdeo.
Identified as Bhagwanlal, son of Naganji Bagthala from Semari, Sarada tehsil near Udaipur the accused used to target taxi drivers in the region. On interrogation by the police, he has accepted stealing cash and costly mobiles from taxi drivers.
As per the police, the accused Bhagwanlal used to hire taxis for intercity commute under the pretense of unwell family members. During the ride, he used to deceive the taxi driver and take away the mobile, cash, wallet, ATM Cards and other documents lying in the taxi.
On reaching the destination, Bhagwanlal used to ask the taxi driver for his mobile to call his “relative”, by saying that his own phone was not working. While making the call, he used to flee from the spot and sell the mobile after using the victims ATM card after changing the passcode using the OTP that was received on the victims mobile.

Police got to action after receiving a complaint from a taxi driver by the name of Udaylal. He filed a report with the police mentioning that the accused took his taxi on hire and duped him by fleeing with his mobile, ATM card and withdrew Rs 18,000 using the ATM card.
The police team who nabbed the accused was working under the supervision of Anil Kumar Bishnoi, SHO, Sarada Police station. This action was executed under the Udaipur SP’s direction on apprehending criminals and property mafia who were on the loose.
