Circa 2010 – In what was a blotch on the “safe city” status of Udaipur, the City of Lakes witnessed a mysterious murder in March 2010; that of a 24-year old French woman, Anne Clouet, who was found dead in the room of Hotel Nai Haveli, Udaipur. After investigations and postmortem, it was classified as death due to overdose of drugs.

The conclusion by the authorities was substantially questioned when a final postmortem, done in France, brought to light the fact that some of the body parts like kidneys, heart, intestine and uterus were found missing. This was despite the instructions of least damage to body from French embassy to medical authorities in Udaipur

18 months since the mishap and still unconvinced of the reasons behind death of their daughter, Gildas and Lydiane Clouet, Anne’s parents have come down to India to look in to the matter thoroughly.

Anne was a flight attendant with Swiss Airlines and had come to Udaipur on a vacation with her friend Annelise Archen on 24^th February 2010. On their tour to Udaipur Anne and Annelise became friends with Dhruva Sharma, a resident of Bhatiyani Chohatta and Ali Hussain of Mulla Talai.

Dhruva Sharma and Ali Hussain had accompanied Anne and Annelise on their trip to Pushkar, from where they are suspected to have brought the drugs that were identified as the cause of death.

Dhruva and Anne were both drunk on the evening of Anne’s death and in the morning she was found dead. Dhruva Sharma already had a past criminal record and was interrogated on the case and taken under police custody.

The elderly French couple is distressed over the mysterious death of their daughter and is looking for the missing link to the real cause.
