Udaipur, May13, 2026: The NEET Paper leak investigation transitioned into a political flavour after investigators arrested a BJP worker Dinesh Biwal and his brother Mangilal Biwal from Jamwaramgarh (Jaipur) in Rajasthan over an alleged Rs 30 lakh probe related to the paper leak.

Paper Purchased for Rs 30 Lakh

The two brothers have been arrested by the Special Operations Group of Rajasthan Police and were handed over to the CBI after the investigations on the case were escalated from SOG to CBI. As per the SOG investigators, the arrested duo had allegedly purchased the question paper for Rs 30 lakh again allegedly from a person named Rakesh Mandwariya of Sikar. Rakesh himself has been detained from Dehradun.

Recover the Cost

In the initial interrogation, investigators were told that the brother got access to the leaked papers for some children in the family who were attempting the NEET. Investigators are now suspecting that the brothers then began to sell these papers to other students in a attempt to recover the cost incurred in securing the question paper and also to make some money in the bargain.

Political Links Trigger Row

The main accused, Dinesh, has been an active BJP worker in the Jamwaramgarh assemble constituency of Jaipur. Dinesh has also been associated with BJP Yuva Morcha and held ministerial level organisational roles within the Youth wing.

Congress Questions FIR Delay

The Opposition in Rajasthan has raised a concern over the delay in lodging the FIRs even as SOG arrested nearly 15 individuals in connection with the matter. The SOG began its investigations nearly 10 days ago after the matter came to light after the examination held on May 2. On the intervention by the Central government, the case was handed over to the CBI, which then registered the case and subsequently the NEET Examination was cancelled, leaving the candidates distressed and parents confused on the outcome as well as the re-examination. The issue came to light after a 'guess paper' being circulated before the examination was found to contain nearly 410 questions, out of which 120 closely resembled the questions that appeared in the actual paper. As per The Hindu, Rajasthan Congress leader Govind Singh Dotasra said many instances of links between BJP leaders and paper leak mafia have come out into the open, which demands and impartial investigation on the collusion and harsh disciplinary action against the accused.
