A semi- decomposed body of a new born baby was found near a sewage tube at Bhupalpura area of Udaipur. The body has been taken by thepolice and kept in the mortuary of MB hospital.

The incident which shook the residents of the area came to light when at morning around 7 am a few people noticed a body of baby lying between rocks near the sewage.

Pratap Singh, ex-parshad of the area informed the police about the incident. The police team came at about 8:30 am and took the body in their custody. Prima facie it looks like a completely born baby as the part of umbilical cord is cut off properly and it’s clearly visible. At present we can only presume it by the condition”, says ASI Chunni lal Meghwal. “The child who is a male might be alive at the time of birth and possibly someone tried to hide the birth of this newly born”, said Chunnilal Meghwal, who is also an investigative officer of the case. A nearby tea vendor told us that there was a foul smell coming from that sewage and people started gathering since early morning. It was shocking for everyone here. Police started investigating by checking case records of the past few days in all maternity hospitals around Bhupalpura including adjacent areas of Kishanpura and Alipura. One female foetus was also found near Jhadol area of the district today.
