Nurses protested against violence at polio booth

Early this Monday, a group of nurses led by the Trained Nurses and Student Association Udaipur had expressed their anger and demanded strict action against the culprits who misbehaved with the female nurses assigned to the National Pulse Polio Programme on Sunday 26 July.

Three Nurses – Kamlesh Sharma, Khushboo and Aamreen were posted on duty on 26th July Sunday under the National Pulse Polio Programme at Pahadi Bus Stand located at Chetak, Udaipur. In the afternoon, three people, who were reportedly drunk, entered the polio booth and started misbehaving with the female nurses. When Kamlesh protested against the miscreants, he was beaten and abused by the trio.

Both female nurses cried for the help. The assaulters, however, fled the scene before they could be apprehended.

“There is no clue available with us about those troublemakers except the motorcycle number which has been provided to the concerned authorities,” said Hemant Ameta – the president of Trained Nurses and Student Association, Udaipur. “They have responded to the situation by sending a team to the RTO office for further investigation. We hope for fruitful results out of this investigation” he added.
