The most common of all crimes happening in the town is chain snatching. Out of the 5 wanted chain snatchers, one has recently been arrested by police.

On the day of Shivratri, chain snatching was done in Sector 13, Fatehpura and other areas in Hiranmagri. 3 women became victims of these incidents. One culprit was arrested yesterday and sent behind bars whereas 3 are still being searched by police. One of the accomplices was arrested earlier.

Deepak from Alladinpur in Uttar Pradesh, s/o Radheshyam Bavri, was arrested under production warrant from Bhilwara Jail for snatching gold chain of Bharati Nachani, resident of Maharana Pratap Colony in Sector 13.  Accused Deepak along with 4 of his accomplices had given form to this chain snatching crime at 3 places in the city.

 Sanjay Bavri, one of the culprits, was arrested 3 months back and is now in judicial custody. Sanjay and Deepak along with Nitin, Sandeep and Jaiprakash had come to Udaipur on bike and scooter on the occasion of Shivratri. After snatching 3 chains in Udaipur city, they went to Chittorgarh and snatched 7 chains in a day. They have also snatched chains from various people in Bhilwara and Ajmer.
