Mandawa Police Station Attacked by History Sheeter

As many as six policemen including the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mandawa police station of Udaipur got injured after they were attacked by a history sheeter of the area and his associates on Thursday evening.

Inspector General of Police Udaipur Ajaypal Lamba said that the incident occured at 7:00 pm when the Station House Officer of Mandwa police station Uttam Singh and his team including 5 police constables went to arrest the history sheeter Raniya on at his native village Kukawas, seeing the police team the accused and his aides went up the hill locks of the area. In a bid nab them the team also chased them but by taking the advantage of the situation the accused and his associates encircled the police team. They snatched 2 of the SLR riffles and a revolver from the police and opened fire at them in which 4 police men including the SHO sustained injuries in the attack and one of the police constable Manoj Kumar got severely injured and is in a critical condition.

Those injured were rushed to MB Hospital and admitted there for treatment. Heavy police force have been deployed in the area and an intense search for the accused have been launched by the police, Lamba added.

He further added that the accused, his associates and extended family members ambushed the police, they snatched their rifle and later pelted stones, stabbed them with knifes and also allegedly opened fire at them, but initially not bullet injuries were confirmed by the doctors and it is yet to be confirmed. Accused Raniya is a notorious criminal and history sheeter of the Mandwa police station, hecis having more than 60 criminal cases registered against him at various police stations of the district. District Collector Tarachand Meena and other administrative officers also reached at the hospital to take the stock of the situation.
