Police officers including all police personnel in Udaipur did not celebrate Holi this year.
Condemning the death of Circle Officer Phool Mohammad who was burnt alive by the mob in Sawaimadhopur on March 18, Police personnel skipped this year’s holi celebration in honor of their deceased colleague.
However, Alok Vashisht – SP, Udaipur said, “It is not something official; I don’t think it is necessary to comment on this issue”.
Unlike every year this time Udaipur’s Police Line- the Police residential area, was seen inactive on the next day of Dhulendi which used to be surrounded by cheerful atmosphere.
Similar news came from other districts of Rajasthan too; TOI has reported that Police Officers in Jaipur also did not celebrate Holi for the same reason.
Ashok Gehlot, Chief Minister Rajasthan did not celebrate Holi because of the unfortunate incident that occurred in Sawaimadhopur which killed CO Phool Mohammad and a student leader, the series of maternal death reported from Jodhpur was also one of the reasons.
In Udaipur, Police Department celebrates Holi on the next day of Dhulendi as Policemen are on duty on both the days of Holi and Dhulendi. Almost all Police officers including Circle in-charges and SHOs gather at Police line to celebrate Holi with their colleagues and family members.
