Police seizes restricted cough syrup worth Rs.1.5 Cr, one arrested

Udaipur,02.10.23 - The District Special Task Force (DST) and the Hiran Magri police in a joint operation have seized a huge consignment of restricted cough syrup and other drugs from a warehouse during a raid on Sunday, said police.
The police team have also detained an accused during the raid who was identified as Kamlesh Dangi a resident of Kurabad village of Udaipur.

It was when the DST Constable Upendra Singh Bhati and Vikram Singh got a tipoff about the stocking of a huge quantity of restricted cough syrup and other contrabands at a warehouse located at Umerda area of the city owned by the Bherunath Medicals.Upon verifying the information the team of DST along with the officials of the local police station raided the said warehouse and have seized 420 cartons of from the scene containing 57,377 bottles of Cough Syrup (Codeine),26000 tablets and 500 grams of marijuana (Ganja).The black market value of the seized consignment of drugs is about Rs.1.5 crores.

The police team have also detained one Kamlesh Dangi and have registered a case against him under section 8/22 and 8/20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), said Sp Udaipur Bhuwan Bhushan.
The consignment has been seized and the interrogation of the accused is underway.

In a similar operation being carried out by the team of Pratap Nagar police station on Saturday night as many as 10  cartons of Cordin Cough Syrup containing 1080 bottles from a room located at Debari area. Police have also arrested a man identified as Lalit Patel.
