A 17 year old pregnant girl, an ANM student succumbed to her self sustained injuries on 2 January at the Government Hospital in Banswara.

As per SP Banswara, Suryaveer Singh, the Police got the information on 1 January that a 17yr old ANM student residing in a rented accomodation at Raj Talab in Banswara had attempted suicide. When the Police reached there and rushed the girl to the hospital, the girl in her statement narrated the incident and also revealed the name of the accused.

SP Suryaveer said that the girl battled with her injuries for a while and finally succumbed. Her foetus could also not be saved.

The case has been handed over to Pratapgarh Police as the girl hails from Pratapgarh and in her last statement to the Police she said that she had been raped by the accused in Pratapgarh and that she had returned to Banswara a few months ago.

Singh further adder that the victim stayed in a rented room along with a room mate, but from last few days she was alone at the room as her room mate was at her house for her winter break. Incidentally, the deceased's room mate returned from her vacation, she found that the room was locked from inside and raising the alarm, called a few boys who were staying near their accomodation. The boys broke into the house and pulled the victim girl down and took her to the hospital.

A case has been registered under POCSO Act and the investigation is underway. As per information, the foetus of the girl died as soon as she consumed poison, which was later removed from her body. A postmortem of the body was conducted and it was taken away to Pratapgarh by the police.
