Punjab AAP Leader Lucky Oberoi Shot Dead in Jalandhar
AAP leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Jalandhar’s Model Town after attackers opened fire at close range
Feb 6, 2026 – Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead early Friday (February 6) morning in Jalandhar. Oberoi had just come out of a Gurudwara Sahib in Model Town and was sitting inside his vehicle when two unidentified men came by on a two-wheeler and fired multiple shots at him from close range.
The AAP leader was rushed to the hospital in a serious condition where he succumbed to his injuries.
Oberoi’s wife Simarjot Kaur had last year unsuccesfully contested the municipal corporation elections on an AAP ticket. Oberoi was a financier and property dealer.
Following the incident, the Opposition has targeted the Bhagwant Mann government alleging “collapse of law and order in Punjab”.
Authorities are investigation the shooting and efforts are on to nab the culprits. As per the police, the entire area has been sealed with multiple checkpoints being set up across the city.
