At 11:15 am today, 65 year old Chogalal Chaudhry who is a resident of the Kurabad area was admitted to ward 5A of the MB Hospital by the senior doctors on duty at the time. He was accompanied by his two sons Mahesh Chaudhry and Kailash Chaudhry as well as his two nephews Vishnu and Sanjay.

The resident doctors were instructed by the senior doctors to attend to the patient. A few minutes after admitting the patient however, the relatives of the patient approached a resident doctor and asked him to attend to the patient.

The request then escalated into a heated argument between the patient’s relatives and the resident doctor that they had approached. The argument however, did not yield any result and the patient’s relatives returned to their kin’s ward.

Following the argument, a few resident doctors complained to the senior doctors, Dr. V.N. Verma and Dr. D.P. Singh, regarding the behaviour of the patient’s relatives. Soon after this, the patient’s kin reportedly reproached the resident doctor and attacked him.

In response, the resident doctor brought 10 to 15 other doctors and attacked the relatives thus resulting into the fight.

Following this, the police were contacted and the Circle Incharge of the Hathipol Police Station Ratan Chawla arrived at the scene. He saw to the provision of medical aid to the patient’s relatives who were injured in the attack and filed a police complaint against the resident doctors for the family members involved. The patient was later shifted to the Geetanjali Medical College & Hospital for further treatment.
