CBI Seeks Death Penalty for Sanjay Roy
On January 9, 2025, the CBI concluded its arguments by presenting key evidence against Sanjay Roy. The agency's lawyers described the crime as one of the "rarest of rare" cases, justifying their demand for capital punishment. The evidence included biological samples, CCTV footage, and testimonies from 50 witnesses, all supporting the claim that Roy was the sole perpetrator.
Accused Facing Serious Legal Charges
Sanjay Roy has been charged with serious offenses under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections 103(1), 64, and 66, which relate to murder, rape, and causing death or leaving the victim in a vegetative state.
