· Bribe asked for providing Certificates to former RNT students in UK

Udaipur Anti Corruption Bureau has arrested a junior clerk employed at the Office of the Principal, Rabindra Nath Tagore (RNT) Medical College for demanding and accepting bribe in return of providing transcripts as certification to four RNT graduates based in United Kingdom.

Maandhata Singh, resident of Panchwati has been detained by ACB officials soon after he took the money from the applicant victim Akhtar Hussain.

Akhtar, on behalf of his brother and sister in law and another couple <Name withheld on request> (all graduates of RNT) and based in UK, approached Maandata for certificates as the couples are moving to Canada and USA respectively and require EICS, ECFMG and other certificates for registration formalities.

According to ACB, all certificates are chargeable from $100 per page upto $300 dollars which is to be deposited in the Rajasthan Medicare Relief Society account.

Maandata who originally belong to Banswara’s Mahi Sarovar Nagar demanded additional money to do all the work fast and uninterrupted.

“First Maandhata demanded a bribe of Rs. 5000 for one certificate and later added Rs. 3000 and demanded a total of Rs.8000”, said Akhtar Hussain.

When he approached ACB, Hussain was instructed by ACB senior officials to negotiate the amount, and the amount was reduced to Rs.7500, which was to be handed over today. After all verifications, ACB gave the applicant the marked notes.

The accused, after taking the money from the applicant, doubted something fishy and immediately hid the money before ACB officials raided the RNT office.

After rigorous interrogation, Maandhata broke into tears and confessed to the crime and also disclosed the money hidden in the store room. ACB has seized the money and arrested the accused.

Certificates asked by RNT graduates are the Educational Commissioning Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG), Medical School Performance Evaluation Certificate and EICS certificate. ACB team led by Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police.
