In recent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) chargesheet regarding the Rape and Murder of junior doctor R G Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sanjay Roy is the only person accused for the crime.
According to the chargesheet, CCTV footage showed Roy entering the seminar room where the doctor was resting at around 4 am on August 9. He left the room about 30 minutes later. Forensic evidence revealed that blood and tissue found under the victim's nails matched Roy's DNA.
The chargesheet details that the doctor had 16 external and nine internal injuries. It also states that Roy attempted to mislead investigators during questioning.

The doctor’s body was discovered on August 9 in a seminar room of the hospital where she was resting during her night shift. This shocking incident caused widespread anger and led to a long strike by doctors across West Bengal. Sanjay Roy was arrested shortly after the incident, and the case was later transferred to the CBI.
After 58 days, the CBI submitted a 45-page chargesheet in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate’s court in Sealdah, stating that Roy was responsible for the crime. The report does not mention any involvement of other individuals in the rape, focusing solely on Roy's actions.
More than 50 Senior Doctors Resign at RG Kar Medical College to Support Junior Doctors
Recently, over 50 senior doctors from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital resigned as a way to support seven junior doctors who were on a fast-unto-death for four days. Their health was getting worse, so the senior doctors wanted the Bengal government to take action.
The senior doctors also informed the director of medical education that they were ready to resign individually if needed. However, the state government has not responded to their resignations. The junior doctors are demanding the government address a list of 10 important issues.
