The absconding Sarpanch of Chali Panchayat Samiti was arrested by Gogunda police on Sunday during a commercial rally of one of the candidates. He is presently under interrogation to retrieve information about the crime.

SHO Gogunda police, Hanuwant Singh informed that Chali Sarpanch Ram Singh Rajput was a wanted offender under the charge of fraud. Police got a tip off about him promoting one of the candidates of the Panchayat Raj polls in the rally in his village. Based on this info, the cops raided the village and nabbed the accused from the rally.

The SHO further added that on 3^rd September, an FIR was lodged by the Development Officer Chandresh Agrawal against Ram Singh, secretary, joint secretary and 2 others for claiming Rs. 19793 from NREGA in the name of 2 women who had died in 2006. They had marked fake attendance in NREGA in 2012 however, the amount was not transferred in their bank accounts.

Since the FIR was registered, Ram Singh was arrested and kept under interrogation, SHO added.
